Abstract

The holistic learning ecosystem is a critical factor in supporting students’ mastery of Qur’anic memorization
(murajaah) in tahfiz education. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a tahfiz learning ecosystem in
strengthening murajaah practices among tahfiz students in Malaysia. The holistic ecosystem is conceptualized through
five interrelated dimensions: physical and spatial, social and emotional, academic and pedagogical, spiritual and
organizational management. A quantitative survey involving 194 students from five tahfiz institutions was conducted
and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS version 27.0 The results
demonstrate a significant relationship between the tahfiz learning ecosystem and students’ mastery of murajaah.
Specifically, a supportive and well-structured environment was found to enhance concentration, motivation and
memory retention during the memorization process. The study highlights the importance of adopting a holistic tahfiz
learning ecosystem approach when designing strategies for tahfiz education, as it contributes substantially to the
effectiveness of murajaah, which forms the foundation of Qur’anic memorization.
